Elin Isaksson came to Edinburgh College of Art in 2001 following a year spent assisting 3 glass blowers in Gothenburg. Further courses include Fusing & Casting with Rudi Gritch in Itlay and Master Glassblowing courses with Simon Moore and Dante Marioni at Northlands Creative Glass Center. She set up her business as a professional Designer and Glassmaker in 2006 and is now practising her craft full time at her new glass blowing studio & gallery in Alloa, Scotland.

Artist’s talk with Breath Taking exhibitor Carrie Fertig
Carrie Fertig began as a metal smith in 1986, branched out into stone-carving in 1995 and took up hot glass in 2004. Her work explores connection and disconnection. She founded the flame-working performance group Torcher Chamber Arkestra in 2010.

Learn the magical way glass is formed and sculpted at Central Scotland’s new exciting hot glass studio!
In summer 2010 Elin Isaksson set up her own glass blowing workshop in Alloa with support from Clackmannanshire Council and Scottish Arts Council, here she designs and makes all her work. Elin Isaksson Glass will offer 2 sessions as part of a taster workshop ‘Blowing a Tumbler’ sponsored by The Park Gallery. It will give a flavour and introduction into glass blowing for those interested in learning how to blow glass. On the course you will be able to blow a tumbler that is yours to keep! No previous experience is necessary for this exciting and hands on course.

I heard Layne Rowe on Claudia Winkleman's BBC2 show and can't believe the revolver piece is free-blown. What skill. Looking forward to seeing all the glass in the exhibition.
