ACCESS:
Level access can be found next to the main door of the house.
All public areas are accessible for wheelchairs and there is lift access to upper floors.
An induction loop is installed in our reception/gift shop.
Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf are welcome in the house.
Adapted WCs can be found on each floor.

An Insight into Glass Blowing with glass artist Elin Isaksson

Elin Isaksson came to Edinburgh College of Art in 2001 following a year spent assisting 3 glass blowers in Gothenburg. She completed both her BA (Hons) and her Masters in Glass & Architectural Glass Design at ECA. During this time she has worked with Lindean Mills Glass, Galashiels. Further courses include Fusing & Casting with Rudi Gritch in Itlay and Master Glassblowing courses with Simon Moore and Dante Marioni at Northlands Creative Glass Center. She set up her business as a professional Designer and Glassmaker in 2006 and is now practising her craft full time at her new glass blowing studio & gallery in Alloa, Scotland.

TALK:
Artist’s talk with Breath Taking exhibitor Carrie Fertig
Carrie Fertig began as a metal smith in 1986, branched out into stone-carving in 1995 and took up hot glass in 2004. Her work explores connection and disconnection. She founded the flame-working performance group Torcher Chamber Arkestra in 2010.

WORKSHOP:
Learn the magical way glass is formed and sculpted at Central Scotland’s new exciting hot glass studio!
In summer 2010 Elin Isaksson set up her own glass blowing workshop in Alloa with support from Clackmannanshire Council and Scottish Arts Council, here she designs and makes all her work. Elin Isaksson Glass will offer 2 sessions as part of a taster workshop ‘Blowing a Tumbler’ sponsored by The Park Gallery. It will give a flavour and introduction into glass blowing for those interested in learning how to blow glass. On the course you will be able to blow a tumbler that is yours to keep! No previous experience is necessary for this exciting and hands on course.
